Sometimes the thing that goes wrong seems so simple homeowners think they should be able to solve it themselves. Electricity in the wrong hands is dangerous. For peace of mind and personal safety, no job is too small for our home electrical repair technicians because we know it will ensure your safety.

Here are five common things that go wrong with home electrical systems
  1. Electrical outlets stop working
  2. Lights are blinking or dimming and surging
  3. Power is out and you don’t know why (the most common emergency electrical repair)
  4. Someone got shocked
  5. Something won’t go on, or won’t turn off

You don’t need to become an electrician. That’s why you have called us to come to your home and fix it. But many times our valued customers want to understand why things go wrong, and we are always happy to explain it. We are building a long-term relationship with you. Our experience tells us that the more you know, they more you’ll know we are the experts to call again and again when you need help.

Most of the time, home electrical repair is concentrated in five areas:
  • Your central breaker panel (or in older homes, the fuse box) shuts down current to circuits in a home. When it is working correctly, it detects some kind of dangerous overload. But the device can fail entirely, become intermittent or feed some circuits and not others.
  • Circuits send the “juice” through to many connections. And so the failure can be at any of a number of places, from the circuit breaker all the way through to the electrical outlet.
  • Wires and connectors wear out. Current flowing through wires and connections creates heat that wears things down. Even standard plugging in and out loosens a receptacle.
  • Was the wiring done correctly to begin with? It’s unfortunate, but in the newest homes corners can be cut. Electrical repair requires a permanent solution; but this time it is done right because you have chosen our deep experience.
  • Somebody was a “weekend electrician”. Perhaps a previous owner considered he was able to fix anything. If he rigged something up, or repaired it even slightly wrong, you’ll be glad we came to sort it out. One of the most common amateur acts: improperly installed switches.

Call us when you experience any of these things:
Light bulbs are burning out at a high rate. There can be various reasons for this which we will expertly diagnose.
Some lights are flickering or blinking. Could be one connection, could be the main.
When some lights get extra bright while others dim, or bulbs are popping, this is serious and eventually can damage appliances. Call now, and get us there soon.
Dead outlets take a little detective work, but you need them and we’ll get them back in shape.

A circuit breaker that trips is often a sign of a serious problem somewhere on the circuit it is protecting. If it’s because you’re using several appliances at once, consider having our electrical repair technician put in a new separate heavy duty circuit.
